How long has it been since I last talked about flat lays? Thought it would be a good time to blog about this again cause I am still as hyped as I am before about it. For those who are new to this term, its basically a way to show your things off in the most photogenic manner, while playing around with the colors, textures, sizes etc. of your items. Sounds like it could be done within 5 minutes? Well, you might want to think twice before you jump to your conclusions. In my point of view, laying out the items is not tough, its getting the right lighting and angle to bring your things to the center of attention that will make you sweat. Enough of trying to explain what flat lays are and get to the whole point of this post. I've got a trip to New Zealand coming up soon, and thought that I should give flat lay another shot, so this time around, my flat lays are the travel flat lay, very much inspired by taramilktea . And for those who wants to see flat lays that are not done by the new kid on the block, do check out my previous post on flat lays as I had some examples laid out here.
I'm going to start off the flat lay with some accessories which I was torn between while packing because most of my accessories were statement necklaces and well, they tend to get tangled up together if I didn't pack them properly. Also, I had laid out some of my travel essentials (no matter the weather of my destination, I will not leave these behind).
Lipsticks - NYX & MAC ; Lip balm - The Body Shop ; Brow pencil - Shu Uemura ; Shades - Forever 21 ; Travel journal - Typo ; Watch - Tissot ; Other accessories - Lovisa , and not forgetting my polaroid camera, some good reads and my trusty ol' Canon 550D(used for picture taking)
To be honest, the only time I really get to spend time with my dogs are the weekends, where I have time to bring them on a really long walk, play a game of fetch, letting them roam around the garden while we get busy with our daily routines. And well, I'm just really grateful that I have them in my life. They make a lot of things more worthwhile; like coming home after a pretty long day in college, to see them wagging their tails by the door, welcoming you home. Both of them are adopted, Angel, when she was a puppy and Happy when he was three; and now, Angel's already 9, and Happy had turned 7. They can be such a handful sometimes, but they're the most amazing companions. Hence, after their baths, they would have to get their photos taken, cause they look the cleanest then. And also, I'd like to have their photos taken even if they hate it (Happy literally walks away if he sees me with the camera) before they get old, cause hey, nothing lasts forever, and I don't want to have regretted that I didn't take enough photos of them. And the plus point from taking numerous photos of my dogs is that they're like moving subjects, so its a really good way for me to practice my photography skills cause lets face it, we've all seen my photos, I'm clearly an amateur. Slowly, I'm moving on to portraits, and I'll share some of them here when I actually get to it. Hopefully not too long from now, I'm aching to try new perspectives!
On the other hand, I don't think my dogs are that good in front of the camera. I've seen how photogenic some dogs can be. Unfortunately, mine are not. But if you were to ask which dog likes the camera better, it would definitely be Angel, and I've got the photos to prove it.

Really love this whole editing video thing at the moment. You can say its my new interest! Still using Windows Movie Maker, but once I get the hang of it I might move on to iMovie(its a bit complicated to me atm) Anyway, enjoy this video! And feel free to check out my Melbourne one as well!
PENANG, MALAYSIA, 2015
DAY ONE.
Headed down to Penang last Friday with college mates. Stayed at Shear Min's place, all nine of us. After settling down, we headed to Cecil Market to have some local favorites! Since it was about 4pm after settling down, we just shared a few dishes. We had pasembur and char kuey teow. After having a rather satisfying tea time, we headed back to the house and just chilled around. We then left for dinner at Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat Restaurant. The steamboat broth was really different, hence making it special and it was good too!
After dinner, we went back to the house and just had a few drinks and gambled a bit. After that, we just talked in the house until we got sleepy.
DAY TWO.
Well, going on trips with your friends are pretty much like sleepovers with little sleep. So we crawled out of bed unwillingly at 9am thanks to Dur Shean because he was hungry. Headed to Maxim Dim Sum for breakfast and then went to where the mural arts were. WELL, WE WERE SUPPOSE TO FIND THE MURAL ARTS, but in the end we just cycled around with our rented bikes till we got tired. We did stop for some mochi, lobak and cendol!
As for dinner, we went to Hai Boey Seafood restaurant. It's quite a distance from the house. It was situated next to the beach, hence, having a view as you enjoy dinner. What Hai Boey had got to serve was quite different from your typical Chinese seafood restaurant. Had you ever had bitter gourd dipped in honey? Have you had cold sweet and sour pork? Its really quite good, all of their dishes!
After dinner, we headed back and washed up and had some ghost stories session. We actually scared ourselves pretty badly, watching ghost videos, and unsolved mysteries of murders and telling stories in the dark, but it was still nice the have that little bonding session!
DAY THREE.
Well, day three was our beach day. We took a 3km hike to Monkey Beach after a coffee shop breakfast and spent the whole afternoon there. After a whole afternoon under the scorching hot sun, we took a boat back to the mainland. And we forgotten to take pictures until we were on the way back? But day three was definitely well spent! Had char kuey teow for dinner at Zoo Road, and it was good so so good. After dinner, we walked along Gurney Drive, and headed to Straits Quay before going to Beer Factory. Stayed up till about 5am and had a girls talk (with Kevin and Li Shin too, what does that say??) On a side note, I literally spent the whole day with Gwo Ruey, Sze Huey and Wilfred because we were in the same car, and I can assure you, it the funniest car ride ever.
DAY FOUR.
Bon voyage Penang. Had asam laksa for an early lunch before hitting the road back to KL. It was definitely a good trip! Definitely very much memorable for me.

After a short 5 days trip in Melbourne, I'm home. For those who are not so keen to read the long post ahead(mostly just pictures though), here's a short video I had put together. It's my first ever travel video, so it's a bit shaky but I think after a few times I would get better(?). Hope you like it! Sorry if it's too simple and all though.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, 2015.
DAY ONE.
My flight was at 10.30pm 19th June. Arrived at Melbourne on 20th morning. And headed to Coburg (grandaunt's sister's place) for breakfast. They had a beautiful home, really and a really cute dog, Moby! After breakfast, headed to the DFO and just wandered around the city before dinner.

DAY TWO.
Headed to Queen Victoria Market after breakfast. Town Roast was going on, so it was quite crowded outside, but all the smoke made the weather so much more bearable. Then had some dim sum (lol idk why I kept having Asian also) for late lunch as we were in the suburb and not much restaurants were open at that kind of time. And then just wandered around at the Eastern side of Melbourne cause we were gonna catch up with someone over dinner at the east. Dinner was good, like really unique kind of food, but no pictures. I forgot.

DAY THREE.
The coldest day, ever. I was in heat tech, sweater, AN ACTUAL WINTER JACKET, and jeans and yet I was freezing. Anyway, day 3 was all about the city. No travelling out of the city. Just taking a tram into the city , and also a really nice relaxing day. Shopped a little, got some souvenirs, and then had brunch at Mr Tulk. The food was so-so. Located next to the state library. But before we went to Mr Tulk, we had doughnuts at Short Stop. It was a really small place, but the doughnuts were so so so unique! A bit sweet but I liked them anyway. As for dinner, we had Korean(ASIAN AGAIN) but I've got to admit it was good Korean casual food.

DAY FOUR.
Last day in Melbourne, as my flight was early morning the next day. BUT THE BEST DAY OF THE WHOLE TRIP.
Went for brunch at Richmond, at a place called Pillar of Salt, and I swear this place puts all Malaysian cafes to shame. it was so good. Not just presentation wise, but the food tastes amazing as well. I enjoyed my hotcakes and my hot chocolate. And also had a go at everyone's food as well. All of the were just so good. After brunch we headed to Brighton. Maybe I shouldn't have insisted to go there. It was too windy to take any pictures with people in it. Headed to Mornington after that. About 4pm, we headed back to the city which was an hour and a half away. Walked around the city before settling for dinner at a Japanese restaurant. And we headed to Lui Bar to get a night view of the city. It was just so beautiful I swear. We even got to see a fireworks display. Definitely a great way to end this short trip.

Keeping it really short. Had a really good time. Glad my parents let me go onto this trip. First ever trip without my parents overseas, and I actually want to have trips like this more often. Not that I don't like to go on trips with them, its just a whole different experience. Next up - Penang with college mates! And at the end of the year - New Zealand!
I'm not going to say too much about me, I'll let you figure out what kind of person I am, or could be to you. Inspired to travel more and capture beautiful photos along the way.
